Meet Christiana Essie Sagay.

Christiana Essie Sagay is a lawyer and scholar-practitioner whose practice spans employment law, migration and immigration law, international law, and the emerging legal landscape of technology and artificial intelligence.

Called to the Bar in Ontario and Nigeria, our principal has represented clients in complex litigation before superior courts and has advised on matters involving employment disputes, immigration pathways, cross-border labour obligations, and regulatory compliance.

A note from Christiana

I built Chressa Law around a simple observation: questions of work, movement, and belonging rarely stay inside one area of law.

A dismissal can turn on immigration status. A hiring decision can turn on an algorithm. A contract signed in one country can be tested in another. My practice was designed for the intersections.

My scholarship and my practice feed each other. What I research shapes how I advise, and what my clients face shapes what I write.

Beyond the practice

Service to the profession.

Christiana co-chairs the International Bar Association’s Poverty and Social Development Committee and has served as the IBA Young Lawyers’ national representative for Canada. Within the American Society of International Law, she has served as secretary of the Women in International Law Interest Group. She has judged the Jessup Moot Court’s Canadian national rounds and coached the University of Lapland’s Jessup team.

Chressa Law also offers notarial services in Ontario.
